3 Day Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda

Gorilla tracking safaris: 3 Days

Gorilla tracking is the number one tourist activity in Uganda and Rwanda today. It has become quite popular in recent years. If you are staying in East Africa for a short while, or have so many activities you want to include in your safari trip, the three day gorilla tour in Rwanda is just perfect for you. The three day gorilla safari gives you the amazing opportunity to go gorilla trekking in Parc Nationale des Volcanoes. Gorilla trekking in Rwanda requires a permit which is $750.

This is how you will spend your 3 days:

Day 1

On day one you will arrive in Kigali and will be met and welcomed by one of our representatives. You will travel to Kinigi by car and there start off your gorilla safari.

On your way to Kinigi you will enjoy a tour of Kigali, the Rwanda capital. It was quite a number of interesting sights.

After an exciting tour tour of Kigali you will continue on your way to the Volcanoes National Park         (Parc Nationale des Volcanoes). This magnificent park is dominated by volcanoes. It stands at an altitude ranging from 2400km to 4507km.

There are 10 families of habituated gorillas here, and you can only spend a short while with them at a time after you make contact.

Gorilla tracking in this park can be strenuous but the experience is well worth it. You will spend the night at one of the lodges in the area, as you prepare for the next day.

Day 2

Day 2 is a full day of gorilla tracking. It is all about the gorillas.

You will have an early breakfast, a short briefing from the concerned park official and off you go tracking gorillas in the volcanoes. Gorilla trekking on the foothills of the Virungas is a thrilling adventure. You will want to do it again after the first time. There is a lot to see in the park as you track the gorillas. You will see some very beautiful and colorful birds, the rare and elusive golden monkey (if you are lucky), elephants, and buffaloes. There are exotic plants as you trek through the green on the foothills of the volcanoes. Tracking gorillas is quite a bit of exercise and requires you to be a bit fit so you can keep up. But it is exciting and makes for a wonderful safari in Rwanda. When you finally find the gorillas you will have a limited time to watch them go about their day, feeding their young, grooming, and playing. Habituated gorillas have been trained to tolerate human presence so they will not run away and hide when they see you.

After a full and exhausting day, you will spend your night at the lodge, resting your body, and probably replaying your gorilla moments over and over and over in your mind.

Day 3

On the last day of your trip, you will travel back to Kigali and enjoy some of the sights in te capital. You will get a chance to visit the Genocide memorial , the African crafts markets, and the Franco-Rwandan cultural center. After wards you will move on to the airport, and our representative will see you off.
